This year’s Security Excellence Awards are just over a month away. That’s quite exciting. In fact, Hollywood’s Academy Awards are known as ‘the Security Excellence Awards of the film industry’. So that’s good.
Here’s last year’s results, as well as a gallery of the winners, and one of the glamorous folks who attended. Ronnie Corbett was one of them. As well as these riches, why not have a look at some delightful video of last year’s event?
Who’s nominated this year? Why not have a look at this very article here and find out. Then go ahead and book yourself a table – you wouldn’t want to miss out.
This is the first IFSEC Bulletin we’ve sent out since the (northern hemisphere) summer break. To catch up on what’s been happening, here’s the stories that have attracted the most reader interest on info4security.com in that time:
Two stories centred on guarding companies have been massively popular. One is about FGH Security’s successful appearance on the BBC’s Dragons Den programme; the other looks at OCS’s acquisition of Legion Group (and is followed up with an interview of Legion’s Martin Gammon.)
Other acquisitions of interest include that of VSG by the Compass Group; and Knightsbridge Guarding and Perception (UK), which were both acquired by Rentokil Initial.
People have also been interested in our Bench Tests of the Mobotix Q24 hemispheric network camera, and Samsung’s SHR 8162 DVR (and for some reason, an older story about Samsung’s ‘killing robot’.)
And there’s been a bit of recent debate around the alarms sector. It started with this article which suggested some installers had been swapping out old alarm systems with new ones of a lower grade. That elicited responses from WebWayOne, and then CSL DualCom – and another response from WebWayOne in response to CSL’s response, for good measure.
Other popular features have included the CCTV Doctor, with megapixel advice; a piece on biometrics adoption; and a useful article on how to approach IP CCTV system design.
Each month we round up the best read stories on I4S – here’s the latest from June, July and August.
