After eleven years with the Kent Police force, Mick joined the Sears group as a regional security manager. In 1992, Mick joined Wilkinson as head of loss prevention. Mick is also a member of the Heads Of Security group of the BRC, the European Efficient Consumer Response (ECR) group and is the European representative for the Retail International Leaders Association (RILA).

Damien is the Chief Executive of Science Services Ltd, which provides expert scientific/ technical advice and intellectual asset management support to assist public and private sector clients move into high-value goods, services and industries.He has a wealth of experience working both nationally and internationally with business and political leaders and is currently the Chairman of the Northern Ireland Government’s Science and Industry Panel, Matrix and represents Northern Ireland on the Strategic Advisory Group of the UK Technology Strategy Board (TSB).

Kabi has spent the last 10 years working for a mixture of academia, technology start up companies and government. He has worked at senior management and board level in leading scientific teams in various areas including the development of holograms for secure documents, biosensors for medical and security use and technologies for use in security and policing.

Jeff Little photo

Jeff Little, OBE, MBA
Chief Executive, NSI

Commissioned from Sandhurst into the British Army in 1974, Jeff Little became a military logistician focusing on the acquisition of specialist vehicles for the Armed Forces.  He has served in a variety of operational theatres including the First Gulf War, Northern Ireland, Bosnia and Kosovo.  The highpoint in his military career was serving in Hong Kong with the Brigade of Ghurkhas.  He was awarded the OBE in 2001 and completed an MBA with the Open University in 2003.  On leaving the Army after 33 years service, he joined a company designing a large, national level CCTV and security system for a major client in the Middle East.  He joined the NSI as CEO in December 2010.

Brian was appointed Editor of Security Management Today (SMT) in November 2000. In 2006, Brian received  the Skills for Security Special Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Security Business Sector. In 2005, he received the BSIA Chairman’s Award (for Promoting The Industry) and, in 2008, was The Security Institute’s nomination for the Association of Security Consultants’ prestigious Imbert Prize.

An Honorary Fellow of The Security Institute and a member of the Risk and Security Management Forum, Brian sits on the Judging Panels for the Security Excellence Awards, the BSIA’s Security Personnel of the Year Awards, the Skills for Security National Training Awards, the IFSEC Awards, the Securitas Security Services Good Customer Award and the Inspiration in HR Award.

In late 2008, Brian became the Editor of Security Management Today Online and was also promoted to Group Content Editor for UBM Live’s Security Portfolio (with additional responsibilities for SMT SELECT, the Security Excellence Awards, conferences and webinars).

Brian’s currently pioneering digital media developments across the security sector. He’s an active blogger on the Wordpress platform, involved in 20-plus security groups on LinkedIn and hosts an extremely popular Twitter site for SMT Online’s dedicated readership.

Richard Childs is managing director of ACPO CPI which supports Secured by Design which is a police crime reduction initiative. Amongst other interests, he is chairman if NHS Lincolnshire, a member of the Prison Service Pay Review Body and a Commissioner for Rural Communities. He also manages his own consultancy business within the security industry.

CEO, Ian Hall Consulting Limited.

"Ian has a wealth of security experience and expertise gained through time spent as an officer in the Royal Marines, and also with the Police where he trained as a firearms officer and carried out regular anti-terrorist and diplomatic protection work.

He then went on to work in commercial security at senior management level for over ten years during which time he gained his MSc in Security and Risk management with a focus on workplace violence in the manned guarding industry for which he got a distinction and an award from ASIS.

Ian is a member of the Security Institute and has written and worked with a variety of government and commercial businesses around the world on personal and physical protection".
