The Apprentice Skills Challenge, sponsored by CSL Dual Com and in association with Skills for Security, the SSAIB and the NSI, returns to IFSEC 2010. In line with the changing landscape of security, The Challenge has once again evolved for 2010, with the task requiring critical assessment, as well, as installation skills. Working as a pair, participants will be required to commission an existing system in line with EN standards. As in previous years, points will be allocated against the various disciplines, taking into account the different skills required. The team with the most points wins The Challenge.
The contest requires the apprentice duos to:
| take a short written test covering the European Standards | |
| critically asses a previously installed intruder alarm system | |
| identify two faults, which had been placed into the system | |
| re-commission the system in line with EN standards | |
| add additional protection |
Through The Apprentice Challenge, apprentice installers are given the chance to:
| Test themselves physically | |
| Pit their skills against each other | |
| Win a fantastic £1,000 cash prize* |
The challenge takes place over the four days of IFSEC 2010 in hall 5. Participants will be expected to complete the task in 1.5 hours.
