The Challenge

In line with the changing landscape of security, The Challenge has once again evolved for 2012, with the task requiring critical assessment, as well as installation skills.

Working as a pair, participants will be required to commission an existing system in line with EN standards. As in previous years, points will be allocated against the various disciplines, taking into account the different skills required. The team with the most points wins The Challenge.

The contest requires the apprentice duos to:

take a short written test covering the European Standards
critically asses a previously installed intruder alarm system
identify two faults, which had been placed into the system
re-commission the system in line with EN standards
  add additional protection

Support from SSAIB

ssaib

SSAIB are delighted to support and sponsor the Engineers of Tomorrow – the UK’s Apprentice Skills Challenge 2012.  It is good to see young and enthusiastic individuals demonstrate their practical skills and knowledge of Intruder & hold-up alarm system installation.

We recognise the significance that the apprenticeship scheme provides for the systems industry, producing occupationally competent and qualified individuals that are equipped with the necessary skills for the future. The very best of luck to all apprentices taking part in this years challenge.

Support from NSI

nsi

The importance of naturing the talent of young people cannot be overstated.  NSI has been a proud and avid supporter of this national competition since it began in 2000.

It is a fantastic opportunity for apprentices to showcase their skills in front of their peers and the industry’s leading players.

NSI encourages all eligible apprentices to register to take part in this ever-popular competition and wishes them every success in the future.
